Influence.

Influence. Almost everybody, everyday in almost any way is influenced by something that they see, hear, smell, eat or touch. The various images that are put up by various companies, singers, television and movie stars, some video games and even some politicians can influence people to buy their product or vote for them as such, but there are some influences that society have taken too far. Some for good and some for bad and some just turn out plain ugly.

Some influential examples include:

- The Fast and The Furious: Think about this, how many thousands of people did you see street-racing and doing up their Skylines, Supras, Lancers, RX7s and all the rest? An absolute shitload. Why? Because it sparked a trend that all young drivers enjoy. The rush of the drive.

- The “Emo” Trend: Emo’s have begun surfacing everywhere over the past couple of years. The haircut, the low pants, the black nail polish, the razorblades and the crying in the corner music. It was all formed and the people were influenced. Those that were heartbroken, had bad parents, rough times at school all jumped for this and screamed, “We’re people too. The difference is we’re just covered in scars and our mascara runs down our teary faces.”

For example, some forms of music can be used as a vibe for some people. Using myself as an example, I am quite attached to music as it is partly my release for my emotions and so on. While I use metal to channel my anger and rage when I’m hitting the bag (or the wall at some stages), I also use some soothing rock for the feel good times. I’m pretty sure some that read this will understand and empathise with this view.

However, there are some other views on music. For instance, I was sitting in Oporto recently and I looked up at the screen and noticed it was replaying the Destiny’s Child concert. As I ate, I watched the people around me gaze at the screen and some were talking amongst themselves, absorbed in the video, their faces begun to glow with hope. While watching them I thought to myself of how influential Destiny’s Child have been on teenage girls across the world. My mind shot straight to their song “Bootylicious”. Everyone should know this song as being pretty much the starting point for all the girls with a bit of extra weight regaining that little bit of self-esteem, claiming their body was too “Bootylicious” for the boys that had dumped them in the first place. After thinking about it, I realised that it was a good way to influence people and people understood this and accepted it. A job well done so it would seem.

As I mentioned above though, there are some horrible examples of influences that have screwed up society. Some songs people believe are so sweet and sexy and all that bullshit. The title is just a sham. Some advice, read the fucking lyrics. When Fabolous released “Can’t Let You Go”, do you honestly think it would’ve been about the fact that he is cheating on his wife but can’t let the new girl go? I sure as fuck didn’t until I read the lyrics. People take the wrong angle when viewing particular songs, movies and other ideals in society. Propaganda is running rampant all over the place and its screwing with people’s heads. Along the lines of music, we come across songs about cheating and screwing people over and all sorts to do with it. I’ve heard some song titles like “I Should’ve Cheated.” As soon I heard that for a title I nearly puked. Why the fuck would you disrespect a relationship by just cheating on somebody? Because the song said to do it? If another song came out by a leading artist of your choice of music telling you to and jump off The Harbour Bridge headfirst with cinder blocks attached to your ankles, would you do it? I don’t think so. Grow up and make decisions for you, not for what other people want you to do, you are conforming and making a complete fucking moron of yourself.

Video games are apparently influencing teenagers and the like to start gangs and go around bashing people and taking their money. Works for them, but they think they are top shit just because they can play the game and kick ass in it, then they go out onto the streets, cause trouble and then get smashed by either another gangster or a copper or even their own parents and the shit hits the fan and more problems are started. The stem from that is a bad childhood which can lead to a bad life.

Some Facts.

- If you’re going to argue with someone about something, make sure your argument can stand up. I’ve seen countless morons try to argue with me about shit that they either don’t know or don’t even fucking understand. You’re out of your depth buddy, and you’re trying to build a house on sand. Your story sunk to a new low and so have you.

- Do not (I REPEAT, DO NOT) ever approach somebody regarding some bullshit that someone else said and take things out of line. Chances are you were probably lied to in the first place or the person that told you (whether they were family, friends or enemies) were probably lied to as well. Make sure you get the facts straight before you go and mess up what may have been a great friendship, relationship or whatever it may have been, all for a lie. If the evidence you get appears to be way too precise and certain, you’re being had and someone else (probably a manipulative piece of shit that you know) is trying to pull the strings and you’re falling for it. Analyse, but don’t over analyse.

- As quoted and proven time and time again, “Because light travels faster than sound, people will probably appear bright until they speak.” This play on words goes for all those that don’t think before they act. If you can walk the walk as you so believe, you better hope to the heavens that you at least know what you’re talking about. You cannot have one without the other. Talk the talk and walk the walk. You’ll go further.

- If someone tries to pick a fight with you, but will never front up to you personally, and would rather tell your friends that he wants an excuse to hit back, the boy is scared. Those that have the guts to stand up for what they believe in, will always approach the situation head-on and prepared for any outcome, and these people will succeed. Those that dodge the ball, pass the buck (or whatever term you want to put to it) will always scared to pursue what they believe in and these moments will pass them by, whether it is a chance to settle the score, smash a shit talker or even to find the right person for you in a relationship. Everyday is an opportunity, those that are scared will let it pass, those with balls, will tackle the opportunity head-on and destroy all standing in the way.

- If you are trying to forget someone in your life, chances are you’ll be kidding yourself. If someone has had that big of an influence on you that you find it hard to forget, don’t forget them, just learn the lesson that came from it. Whether it was a mistake, a huge fuckup or something FUBAR (Fucked Up Beyond All Recognition), chances are no matter how messed it is, there is a lesson to be learnt there.

- Some people have noticed on my msn the tag [[ BCP ]]. For those interested, it means “Bitches Cause Problems”. Why am I stating the obvious? Because I feel the need to outline the difference between a Woman and a Bitch. A Woman sticks up for you no matter what the problem is, even if you may be wrong. A Bitch is just stuck up. Quite simple really.

Until Next Time.
